Former Tottenham Hotspur defender Michael Dawson doesn't think that Kalvin Phillips will join Manchester United this summer due to their rivalry with Leeds United. The 26-year-old has been linked with a move to the Red Devils at the end of the season, having impressed for the Whites and England over the past 18 months.
Phillips has become an integral part of the side since making his first-team debut in 2015 and was vital as the Whites finished ninth last term, making 31 appearances in all competitions. He took his form into the summer with England, playing in each of their seven matches at Euro 2020.
However, the midfielder has featured just 16 times in 2021/22 after suffering a hamstring injury in a 2-2 draw with Brentford back in December. This saw Phillips miss four months of action and he has only just returned ahead of the run-in, playing 25 minutes against Southampton.

Despite his lack of game time recently, a number of clubs are still being linked with a move for Phillips, including Aston Villa, Liverpool and Newcastle United. The Red Devils are another side interested but Dawson doesn't see that happening at all.
He told Sky Sports: "I don't see Leeds going down, but if they did, which I hope they don't. If they do, of course he would leave. He plays for England in the midfield two with Declan Rice. I don't see Phillips going to Manchester United purely based on the rivalry and knowing he is Leeds through and through."
