Michael D Higgins to make history and attend coronation of King Charles

President Michael D Higgins will make history when he travels to the UK to attend the coronation of King Charles, becoming the first head of state to attend the crowning of a British monarch.

The coronation of King Charles III and Camilla is set to take place on Saturday, May 6, at Westminster Abbey.

President Higgins travelled to Lancaster House in London last September, where he signed a book of condolence following the death of Queen Elizabeth II, who has been succeeded by her son Charles.
