Michael Conlan is "sitting up and talking" in hospital after suffering a brutal knockout against Leigh Wood, promoter Eddie Hearn has confirmed.
Conlan was seen to by paramedics after he was knocked out in the final round of his world title bout with Wood.
The Belfast man dominated most of the fight and had the champion down in the opening round after landing a thunderous left.
But Wood, defending his WBA featherweight belt in his home city of Nottingham, came back into the fight and knocked Conlan out midway through the final round.
The two-time Olympian went through the ropes and landed on the floor outside the ring.
He was seen to by paramedics for a number of minutes before being taken from ringside. He was then taken to hospital in an ambulance.
Tweeting a short time later, Smith said: "Michael Conlan arrived at hospital, conscious and stable."
Hearn then posted in the early hours of Sunday morning: "Update on Michael Conlan..conscious and stable, sitting up and talking and await CT scans."
