During the trial, Michael Cohen revealed that he had a conversation with Alan Weisselberg, the CFO of the Trump Organization, regarding the setup of an LLC. Cohen informed Weisselberg that the LLC needed funding, indicating a financial transaction was in the works.
Weisselberg inquired about the possibility of American Media Inc. (AMI), the parent company of the National Enquirer, making a payment to Stormy Daniels. However, Cohen made it clear to Weisselberg that such a payment was not going to happen.
David Pecker, the publisher of the National Enquirer, was the first witness in the trial. He testified that he was not willing to be involved in the Stormy Daniels story or provide additional funds to suppress negative stories about Trump.
