Michael Buble has encounter with drunken Newcastle revellers on Bank Holiday Sunday

Michael Buble joked that he knew he was where he 'needed to be' after having an encounter with some drunken Newcastle revellers on his arrival in the city, declaring it the 'most amazing thing' he'd ever experienced.

Canadian singer Michael was at the Utilita Arena on Monday night for the first of two shows at the venue on his Higher tour; but, while he didn't document it on social media, Michael actually arrived on Tyneside at the weekend and was quick to share his love for the Geordies and all the sights and sounds he encountered when he went for a meal.

Shortly after arriving on stage, Michael called a brief halt to proceedings to tell the tale of what had happened to him a day earlier. Speaking to his captive audience, the Haven't Met You Yet star said: "I walked around the city with my friend Jose and we were walking round., I was down town, I was eating Mexican food in a nice Mexican restaurant and then I saw people...all these women, beautiful, all wearing this all nice Sunday stuff and I thought to myself 'how beautiful, what wonderful people of faith."

As the audience laughed, Michael continued: "And the closer I got to the women, the more s**t faced I realised they were. And I was like 'they're not going to church," as he then started to mock stagger about the stage, before adding: "It was amazing - this is not some patter I've used before, it was the most amazing thing I have ever seen in any city I've ever been.

"Two o'clock on a Sunday! All I could was Jesus Christ, you took me home! You took me home dear Lord! This is where I need to be; here with the Geordies alone, just me."

Michael brought the house down in Newcastle on Monday with a set that included epic covers like Feeling Good and Cry Me a River, originals like Haven't Met You Yet and Everything and a brilliant Elvis medley.
