Michael Bridges expects 'flying' Leeds United to compound Bournemouth's recent misery

Michael Bridges expects Leeds United to be 'flying' after their victory over Liverpool at Anfield, and has backed them to register back-to-back wins when AFC Bournemouth visit Elland Road this weekend.

Bournemouth have lost three games on the spin in the Premier League and threw away a two-goal lead against Tottenham Hotspur to lose 3-2 at Dean Court last Saturday.

The Cherries have fallen to within two points of the relegation zone, and former Leeds forward Bridges is confident that the Whites can compound further misery Bournemouth side that is seriously lacking in confidence.

"I think going ahead to the next game against Bournemouth. They were 2-0 up, Tottenham came back to beat them, they're rock bottom on confidence.," Bridges revealed on The GegenPod Football Podcast.

"Leeds are going at this one flying, and I can safely say I think they will go back-to-back and it will give the fans a great send off in their last home game before the World Cup."

The Whites ended a run of eight games without a win and four straight defeats with their first victory at Anfield in over 21 years.

As a result, Leeds climbed one point clear of the relegation zone with a game in hand over the five teams directly below them.

Bridges has not been too concerned by the nature of the performances but believes a lack of cutting edge in attack and defensive mistakes at the other end have proven costly.

"I was delighted for the players and I was more delighted for Jesse Marsch [after the Liverpool win] because I spent pre-season with him," Bridges revealed.

He continued: "I thought the man's mannerisms were absolutely magnificent, the way he conducted himself. And you can see in the likes of the Chelsea game where they smashed Chelsea 3-0, the second half against Arsenal, it's been missed opportunities and defensive mistakes that have cost them.

"The actual pressing and the game plan has been magnificent and it was just nice to see it come together."
