Michael Beale told Rangers must learn from Celtic mentality as Ange Postecoglou 'no interest' stance hailed

There's a gap to bridge in order to reach Celtic's standard - but Michael Beale would be wise to start his Rangers mission by implementing identity according to Mark Hateley

Ange Postecoglou says he's more interested in what's for dinner than Beale's incoming as the Light Blues boss and it's a mantra former striker Hateley agrees with. Celtic are nine points clear in the Premiership title race and it's partly down to manager Postecoglou bringing in a clear style of play, which he believes is lacking in Govan as Gio van Bronckhorst makes way as gaffer.

There's plenty of work needing done but Beale could take a leaf out of his counterpart's book by making sure the focus stays solely on Rangers. The club hero told Sportsound: "It's clear to see the gulf between the two teams. That is plain and simple. There's a step to go up but you would expect the kind of stuff that's been said by Michael Beale. But Ange is right, you concentrate on what you're doing.

"If you are doing your job right and your team are playing how you want, there's no complaint. You don't look over there.

"You can only influence what you do on the training pitch and whenever you're playing. Ange has done that very well.

"He has his players believing on what they'e doing and they have a terrific identity. It's completely diverse to what Rangers have right now. Now Michael Beale has come in and been tasked with giving the club on the pitch an identity."
