Michael Beale reveals EIGHT Rangers exit rebuffs as QPR boss insists Wolves move is not a done deal

Former Rangers coach Michael Beale has revealed that he turns down 'seven or eight chances' to leave Ibrox in order to become a manager whilst he was turning heads in Glasgow.

Beale made the trip north from Liverpool to become Steven Gerrard's right-hand man when the Reds legend took his first senior role in management back in 2018. Success followed as Rangers won their first Scottish Premiership in 10 years, making Gerrard and his staff instant heroes at Ibrox for stopping bitter rivals Celtic become the first side to win 10 top-flight titles in a row in Scottish league history.

However, with success came interest from elsewhere, and Gerrard and Beale joined Aston Villa last November. Since then, whilst the Villans have somewhat struggled under Gerrard's guidance, but Beale has carved out a superb career for himself. Being appointed as Queens Park Rangers manager in June, he has led the R's to the top of the Championship table.

And with Wolves looking to offer him a role in the English Premiership after just 15 games at Loftus Road, Beale has delayed on any potential move to the Midlands - citing his time at Rangers as an example for holding his horses.

"Football is about feelings and relationships. We've built strong relationships here," Beale said. "I did come from the Premier League to work here. I do know that level, I've worked for some of the biggest clubs, so I do know the expectations of those places.

"I felt over-ready for this job and I feel supremely confident in this job. It's 100 per cent a dream of mine to manage in the Premier League. That's not a secret. But it has to be the right opportunity, the right moment and the right club. And they would have to give me a really clear understanding of where that club is going.

"When I was with (Glasgow) Rangers I turned down seven or eight chances to be a manager. There are some things I look for."

Wolves currently sit 18th in the Premier League, having scored just five goals all season under Bruno Lage and current interim boss Steve Davis - with Beale claiming he won't rush into any decision.

"I haven't spoken to (QPR director of football) Les Ferdinand or anyone, so as far as I'm aware nothing has changed. I took the decision to turn my phone off because we had this game to concentrate on. The moment Les speaks to me I'll know one way or another and then the club will communicate whatever we communicate," Beale continued.

"If an offer comes in officially, you don't have to take it. You have to weigh up everything. There are a lot of questions you need to get answers to."
