Michael Beale opens up on Rangers transfer plans as he admits new recruits 'lucky' to play for club

Michael Beale wants to give Rangers a 'shake up' as he opened on his transfer plans.

The Light Blues boss has entered the January transfer window and can now start putting his own stamp on things. He's made a solid start to life in the dugout at Ibrox with four wins and one draw from five games. His side were just minutes away from claiming a derby day success over Celtic before a late Kyogo Furuhashi goal meant for a share of the spoils.

Daizen Maeda had pounced on sloppy play from the hosts to score inside five minutes but Ryan Kent and James Tavernier turned things around in the second period before the late strike from Ange Postecoglou's men. It leaves the gap between the top two at nine points. Rangers still have a number of players injured and looking to get to full fitness like John Souttar, Ridvan Yilmaz, Ianis Hagi, Tom Lawrence and Kemar Roofe. Beale is desperate to get them all fit and firing while he has said any new arrivals would be 'lucky' to join such a 'special club'.

Kent and Alfredo Morelos are two high profile names out of contract in the summer and yet to agree terms. They can start talking to interest clubs about pre-contract deals but Beale has warned anyone departing Ibrox that they will struggle to play for a 'bigger club'.

Opening up on his transfer plans, the Rangers boss said: “I want to give things a shake, drag it forward, drive the standards.

“It’s a special club and we’re lucky to play here. Whoever we recruit is lucky to come here.

“The ones who leave will struggle to play for a bigger club, so I definitely want to get players in, but the right players.

“I want John Souttar fit, Ridvan Yilmaz, Ianis Hagi, Tom Lawrence, Kemar Roofe and Antonio Colak fit, that would be a start.

“If we can add two or three more, we could have a second team as good as the first team who were out there for this one.

“You have to earn your shirt. The last few weeks, some played regardless.”
