Michael Beale has Queen's Park Rangers starry-eyed as 'spectacular coach' blows chairman away

QPR chairman Amit Bhatia has lifted the lid on the decision to appoint Michael Beale as their new manager.

And he claims the former Rangers and Aston Villa coach ticked all the boxes - and blew the board away.

Beale was a mainstay of Steven Gerrard 's coaching teams at Ibrox and Villa Park and played a huge role in helping Gers win their 55th league title.

But he steps out on his own next season as he takes over ambitious Championship side QPR, who have their sights set on the Premier League.

Bhatia insists there was no other choice than Beale who beat out as many as 23 other candidates to land the top job.

And he is convinced his "spectacular" new manager will go on to be a success.

In an interview on QPR TV, he said: "We're pleased to say Michael was the unanimous choice.

"The pedigree first and foremost of him as a coach, which was one of the main criteria we were looking for.

"The ability to improve players and make them better was paramount.

"Outside of that, he has an incredible reputation, an incredible track record, he plays with a style of football our fans will enjoy very much.

"He's also just a really nice guy. That's very important also.

"When we looked across our matrix of all the things we were looking for, by far and away Michael was the outstanding choice.

"We're announcing the appointment of a really spectacular coach, we're handing him a brand new training facility, we've got some incredible talent in and around the place and I hope this will continue to attract more people to QPR.
