Michael Beale has called for his Rangers players to be more ruthless in front of goal as he hinted at an area where he could recruit this summer.
The Gers boss also revealed the players held a ceremony for Allan McGregor in the changing room after the win against Dundee United where the keeper made his 500th appearance. Beale called for a big performance after impressive displays away from home against Hearts, Hibernian and Motherwell but it was all rather flat until the 38th minute when Bayern Munich loan midfielder Malik Tillman got the breakthrough with a confident finish. The 20-year-old added a second in the 55th minute to make it six goals in six games and 12 for the season and it was ultimately a comfortable afternoon for the Light Blues.
Beale has only lost once in 20 games since becoming Rangers manager and his side moved six points behind Celtic, who travel to Ross County on Sunday lunchtime. At the other end Jim Goodwin's United side remain two points behind County and while they will not have banked on taking anything from Ibrox they have plenty of work to do if they are to survive.
Speaking to Sportsound after the game, Beale said: "We just had a ceremony in there to him. It is a special day for him and his family. Like any young boy that comes into the academy like he did many years ago to make a debut is a big thing. To play 500 games and win everything and play for your country as well. He has had a wonderful wonderful career."
Beale also called for Rangers to be more ruthless, he said: "It was another 28 shots today and seven on target. I think that's an area as a team we are creating a lot, we need to be more ruthless.
"We may need to recruit that in as well so that's an eye opener for one or two because these chances were are creating, if we take them then it will push us where we want to go.
"Malik Tillman, Ryan Kent and Tood Cantwell were fantastic against a really stubborn United team. Malik has a knack for scoring which is great, but the other two really contributed as well."
