Micah Richards ridiculed as Sky Sports assistant wipes coffee off his "cashmere" coat

Sky Sports pundit Micah Richards was ridiculed by fellow broadcaster Gary Neville after a coffee spill at the Etihad Stadium.

Richards, who spent much of his career with City, was on duty for his former club's match against West Ham United in the Premier League. Before kick-off, though, Neville shared a clip of the 34-year-old being seen to by an assistant.

As the camera zooms in, Neville can be heard asking "What's happened?". Richards then pauses before letting his colleague know the source of the spill, which appears to have occurred not too long before he was due to go live on air.

"He's got his coffee on his jacket," Neville says with a laugh, as an assistant wipes down Richards' clothing. The former City and Fiorentina man then asks Neville to feel the material, prompting a response, "Is it cashmere?".

Richards confirms to Neville that the coat is from Thom Sweeney, and Neville has a response ready for that too. "I went there once, they weren't Manchester prices," is the verdict.

One Twitter user wasted little time looking online for the jacket in question, sharing a photo of an item priced at £1,305 which they believed was the same Richards was wearing. Others on social media reacted differently, though, with one saying "I'm more disturbed why his third button isn't done up".

Neville's Sky appearance came after he watched from afar on Tuesday as Arsenal beat Chelsea. That didn't mean he wasn't watching the London derby, though, and had plenty to say about Frank Lampard's Blues as they fell to a sixth straight defeat under their interim manager.

"I actually fancied Chelsea pre-match with Arsenal having had a difficult couple of weeks!" he wrote on Twitter after dubbing the Blues a 'disgrace'. "But they’ve played Arsenal back into confidence. Shambles!"

Arsenal's win on Tuesday brought them back to the top of the table, though City had a chance to reclaim the top spot as they welcomed West Ham to the Etihad for one of their two games in hand. The visitors were depleted by illness ahead of kick-off, with Declan Rice, Tomas Soucek and Nayef Aguerd all missing out.

Neville had praised City frontman Erling Haaland in the lead-up to the game. "Erling Haaland is... he's got the finishing of Kane, the power of Rooney, he's unbelievable," Neville said on his Sky Sports podcast (via the MEN).

"He's unbelievable, even the Brazilian Ronaldo, the power he used to have when he ran, the explosion off the mark. He's almost like four players in one... He's that powerhouse, the imperfection of some of his touches, some of his play."
