Micah Richards names Pep Lijnders moment that sums up Liverpool spirit

Former England international defender Micah Richards believes the togetherness in the Liverpool squad was summed up by Pep Lijnders on Sunday.

The Reds triumphed in the Carabao Cup final against Chelsea, eventually winning 11-10 on penalties after a stalemate in normal time and full time.

Blues goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga missed the decisive kick, blazing over the bar after all 21 other players scored from 12 yards.

With the season ongoing and three more trophies to play for for Liverpool, the celebrations were relatively reserved. After all, the team is in action on Wednesday in the fifth round of the FA Cup against Norwich City.

Nevertheless, there will some jubilant antics captured on the pitch and in the dressing room after the game.

Footage also emerged of Lijnders dancing in the dressing room with some of the players and speaking on BBC Radio 5 Live's The Monday Night Club (h/t the Mirror ), Richards said he loved the clip.

"In terms of Liverpool, they can be whatever they want," he said. "From the manager to even the assistant manager. I saw him dancing in the scenes from the dressing room yesterday. I loved it, I'd love to be around that."

Lijnders' celebrations may have been a little more exuberant than others due to the fact he has taken on media duties frequently throughout the Carabao Cup run, stepping in to take press conferences from Jurgen Klopp.

Richards' former club Manchester City are likely to be Liverpool's main rivals for the remaining pieces of silverware this season.

They currently hold a six-point lead in the Premier League title race over Liverpool having played a game more, while they remain strong contenders for the FA Cup and Champions League too.
