Micah Richards makes Everton 'nervous' admission ahead of crucial Wolves clash

Micah Richards has admitted he feels “nervous” for Everton ahead of their home clash against Wolves on Sunday.

Frank Lampard ’s side head into the game at Goodison Park a point above the relegation zone after Burnley fell to a 2-0 defeat at Brentford on Saturday.

Everton have produced promising performances at home since Lampard’s appointment in January but disappointing results on their travels have seen the club remain part of the relegation battle.

Facing two consecutive home matches against Wolves and Newcastle United, Richards has stressed the importance of those clashes, but admits he fears for the Blues after their 5-0 loss to Tottenham Hotspur.

“What a test this is for Frank Lampard and the next two home games Everton face do not come much bigger,” the ex-Manchester City wrote in his Daily Mail column.

“Wolves on Sunday, then a Newcastle team who are now the same distance away from the final European spot as the bottom of the table.

“I am nervous about Everton’s situation. I never believed they would go down but after watching them on Monday night at Tottenham, where a 5-0 defeat could easily have been 8-0, I’m less certain.

“They will hope for four points in the next two games to change the tide and give them some much needed confidence.”

Everton have been handed a double injury boost ahead of the visit of Wolves.

Blues boss Lampard confirmed Ben Godfrey and Demarai Gray are available for selection after they suffered injuries last month.

The 43-year-old described both as “big” players and will hope the returning duo can provide his side with a much-needed boost.
