Micah Richards explains why Liverpool are title 'favourites' after Man City loss to Spurs

Liverpool are now favourites to lift the Premier League title, according to Micah Richards, after Manchester City suffered a shock defeat at home to Tottenham Hotspur on Saturday evening.

City started the day nine points clear of Liverpool, who earlier in the day came from behind to clinch an important 3-1 win against Norwich City at Anfield.

But Tottenham, who had lost of their last three league matches, hadn't read the script and pulled off a stunning 3-2 away victory with a 95th-minute winner despite the hosts equalising in injury-time.

Speaking after the match on Sky Sports, Richards said: "It’s in Liverpool’s favour now, if they come here and win the game and do the rest that they need to do in the Premier League.

"I said before the game don’t be complacent. It wasn’t just about City, Spurs were excellent today but I just thought City knew that Spurs were going to drop deep and come on the counter attack and played into their hands."

In one of the most dramatic matches of the season so far, Tottenham took the lead in the fourth minute when Son Heung-min ran clear of the City defence and squared the ball for Dejan Kulusevski to stoke home.

A spill by Hugo Loris allowed Ilkay Gundogan slam in an equaliser on 33 minutes, but Tottenham weren't done and Harry Kane put the visitors back in front just before the hour mark.

*RATE THE LIVERPOOL PLAYERS FOR THE WIN OVER NORWICH:

Antonio Conte's side looked to have squandered a famous win after Kane missed a golden chance and had another effort ruled offside by VAR before Riyad Mahrez converted a penalty for City in the 92nd minute.

But fate had decided a different narrative for this contest with Kane sensationally heading a decisive winner in the 95th minute in the most dramatic circumstances imaginable.

The result means that - with a game in hand - Liverpool can now cut the Sky Blues' advantage to just three points if they beat Leeds United on Wednesday evening at Anfield.

Pep Guardiola's side will face the Reds at the Etihad on April 9 in what now looks like the most important match of the Premier League season.
