Former Manchester City right-back Micah Richards has waxed lyrical about Manchester United-linked transfer target Darwin Nunez.
The Benfica striker, who scored the winning goal against Ajax to send the Portuguese giants into the quarter-finals of the Champions League on Tuesday evening, has been closely linked with a move to Old Trafford in recent weeks. United are set to target bringing down the average age of their attacking options this summer and the addition of a new striker is high on their agenda.
Nunez has been in terrific form for Benfica this season, scoring 26 goals in 33 games in all competitions. He has also chipped in with two assists, both of which have come in the Portuguese top flight.

The Uruguayan international, naturally, is attracting plenty of interest from clubs across Europe and United have been heavily linked with his signature. And for former City man Richards, who is a big fan of the 22-year-old's qualities, he believes Nunez could cause problems for Liverpool after Benfica were drawn against them in the quarter-finals of the Champions League on Friday.
"Liverpool fans will have been delighted at how the Champions League draw panned out but let me provide a word of warning," Richards told the Mail. "Darwin Nunez has caught my eye all year and he came up trumps for Benfica once again, to send them into the last-eight.
"Nunez scored his 26th goal of the season and is only 22. He is tall, strong, he runs in behind and knows how to finish.
"He's scored against Bayern Munich, Barcelona and Ajax so far — don't discount him doing the same against Liverpool."
A report by Portuguese news outlet Record recently claimed that United would have to pay £67million to stand any chance of Nunez's signature, highlighting how highly-rated he is Benfica. Barcelona have also been credited with interest in him.
Nunez, who has been named in the latest Uruguay squad alongside Edinson Cavani, joined Benfica in 2020 from Almeria and has since scored 40 goals in 77 games. He has also registered a respectable 14 assists.
