Jamie Carragher has admitted to his desperation to see Borussia Dortmund star Jude Bellingham reject the likes of Chelsea and Manchester City in favour of signing for his former club Liverpool.
Chelsea have been linked with the England international in recent weeks, despite their major spending spree across the course of the 2022/23 campaign, which included the British transfer record signing of midfielder Enzo Fernandez.
Liverpool 's reported interest has been intensified by their own struggles in recent months, and Carragher 's plea during last night's Champions League coverage for American broadcaster CBS summed up how all Reds fans are feeling the need to beat the likes of Chelsea and Europe's other top clubs to Bellingham 's signature.
During a post-match interview with Nico Cantor, the reporter discussed with the BVB star how Carragher had been pressing him to propose to his girlfriend - who was watching at home - live on air the night before, but to no avail.

Bellingham had seen the clip, and had one, playful message for the former Liverpool vice-captain. Looking straight into the camera, he said: "Jamie, do better. Not on Valentines Day, not when she's there.
"I've got your [Cantor's] back, you should have protected yourself a little bit better there. Big names in the studio, crumbled a little bit but that's alright."
Carragher laughed at Bellingham's response, and heeded the message. "Listen, I want that man in a red shirt so I'm going to do whatever he tells me to do! If Jude Bellingham has got any more advice for me, I'm taking it all day, my friend."
Micah Richards, who alongside Thierry Henry was also on punditry duties for CBS, responded: "You sound quite desperate right now," leading to Carragher's final say on the matter: "For Jude Bellingham? I am! We are!"
While a return to England for Bellingham is a hot talking point at the moment, there is no doubt the 19-year-old is fully focused on the task at hand. He also sent out a message to his teammates after their victory over the Blues in the Round of 16 first leg of the need to not get get carried away before next month's Stamford Bridge visit.
