Miami’s Hanna and Haley Cavinder Shares Decision on College Hoops Futures

Few college athletes have used the NCAA’s new rules governing name, image and likeness more effectively than Miami guards Haley and Hanna Cavinder. The fraternal twins, whose NIL deals have netted them millions of dollars, have rewritten the rules of marketing college athletes.

Now, the Cavinders are moving on. The twins will not play fifth seasons of college basketball, they announced in an Instagram post Tuesday morning.

“Hanna and I have decided to not take our fifth year and start a new chapter in our lives,” they wrote. “The U will always be home and we are forever proud to be Hurricanes.”

Haley and Hanna Cavinder averaged 12.2 and 3.8 points per game, respectively, during their 2023 seasons after transferring from Fresno State. Haley was named second team All-ACC in the twins’ first year with the Hurricanes as Miami reached the Elite Eight for the first time in program history.

Since their freshman years, when they passed time at the height of the COVID-19 pandemic making TikTok videos, the Cavinders have accumulated 4.5 million followers on the platform.
