Mexico Senate approves reform introducing election of judges despite protesters' invasion

Mexico's Senate on Wednesday approved a constitutional reform introducing popular election of judges with 86 votes in favour and 41 against. The debate over the proposed law had to be paused after a wave of protesters breached the senate building, forcing lawmakers to resume the debate in a different building.

Mexico's Senate on Wednesday approved a constitutional reform to allow voters to elect judges, the chamber announced, after protesters had earlier forced lawmakers to suspend debate on the proposal.
