A Mexican boxer who has returned to her homeland safely after being placed in an induced coma following a bout in Glasgow has thanked the city for being "amazing".
Slugger Alejandra Ayala underwent emergency surgery after being hospitalised following a TKO loss to Scottish boxer Hannah Rankin at the OVO Hydro back in May.
She received treatment in the ring by medical staff after taking 'a heavy punch' in the bout before she then underwent two surgeries for a subdural hematoma at Glasgow's Queen Elizabeth University Hospital.

Now back home in Tijuana, Baja California, the 31-year-old posted a number of times on her Instagram account about the treatment she had received in Glasgow, while thanking God for giving her "a new life".
Sharing a photo from her hospital room, she wrote: "My doctor said, "You broke all of our prognosis. Go home and live a happy life. Thank you Glasgow, you've been amazing!"
This came in the wake of a post showing her in a wheelchair in one of the hospital corridors which read: "Glasgow is an amazing place with very caring people who do everything possible to make you feel and be better. Sitting and walking."
And she followed both by sharing a picture with her family at the River Clyde, where she thanked "the people from Glasgow/UK who really made everything possible".
