Mewgenics isn't stopping with dominating Steam, co-creator Edmund McMillen says the roguelike is heading for consoles and has DLC plans in the works

Mewgenics creator Edmund McMillen has confirmed both a console port and DLC for the cat breeding roguelike.

Mewgenics has launched as one of the biggest games of 2026 so far, with a massive concurrent player count on Steam that saw it beat out The Binding of Isaac's peak, and eventually overtake roguelite titan Hades 2. And that's on top of being the highest-reviewed game of 2026 so far and making its budget back in just three hours, so it's safe to say people like collecting cats and breeding them to form the greatest cat army known to man.
