Mets color commentator Ron Darling clearly isn’t a fan of Major League Baseball’s broadcast partnership with Peacock.
The Mets’ Sunday game against the Angels was streamed on Peacock, so Darling had a day off from his SNY duties. But instead of watching the Mets play, Darling says he sat out in protest of needing to purchase yet another streaming service.
“Peacock came up, I said alright, I’ll get Peacock, and then I looked at my family and what they own already… it was protest. I said I’m not getting another one,” Darling said. “I’m not spending another $5.”

Perhaps the best part was Mets play-by-play man Gary Cohen informing Darling that since NBC Universal and Comcast own a share of SNY, Darling as an SNY employee gets Peacock for free. That note may also have helped prevent Darling from being even more critical of the partnership.
The old-man-yells-at-cloud moment was a hilarious one, though any baseball fan can attest at this point to trying to track down which streaming service they need to watch a game. At least Darling won’t have to fork over a hard-earned $5 the next time the Mets play on Peacock.
