A Metropolitan Police officer has been charged with causing death by careless driving in connection with the death of an 81-year-old woman in west London. The incident occurred last year when the woman was struck by a motorcycle that was part of an escort for the Duchess of Edinburgh.
The Crown Prosecution Service has charged Christopher Harrison, 67, following a review of the evidence conducted by the Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC). The victim, Helen Holland, sustained serious injuries after being hit at an intersection on May 10, 2023, and tragically passed away two weeks later.
