Residents have been left fuming over an alarm at a tram stop repeatedly blaring over 'several weeks' - including overnight. The fire alarm, at Radcliffe Metrolink station, has been reported to the council and Transport for Greater Manchester, according to those living nearby.
It is understood that the fire alarm has been set off deliberately on numerous occasions, but has also been experiencing a fault which has been causing it to ring out.
Gaynor Clarkson, who has been struggling to concentrate working from home due to the noise, reported the racket to Bury council for the first time on May 19. Seven weeks on, she says the alarm has finally been put to a stop after she was visited by environmental health officers on Monday.

She said: "I work from home and it's impossible to concentrate. I can still hear the alarm when I've got noise cancelling headphones on.
"There was one evening when it started at around 9pm and was still going at 8am the following morning. I'm at the end of my patience.
"It started going off occasionally in May. I've also reported it to Bury Council's environmental health team and one of them came to talk to me on Monday (July 4) and was investigating."
A video taken by Gaynor shows the car park at the newly extended tram stop, as the loud fire alarm can be heard ringing out from behind her house. In a post she shared publicly on July 6, she added "my neighbours and I feel under siege."
Bury council have since said there appeared to be a fault which has caused the alarm to ring out on multiple occasions. They reported it to Metrolink, who say that it has also been set off numerous times 'deliberately' and are now reviewing CCTV to find those responsible. They have apologised to local residence for the 'nuisance' caused.
Danny Vaughan, TfGM’s Head of Metrolink, said: “We are aware the fire alarm in our newly extended park and ride facility at Radcliffe has been set off on several occasions, and we believe this is being done deliberately.
“The Metrolink Operator, KAM, will be staffing the facility to deal with this problem and we are also reviewing CCTV to try and identify those responsible. We apologise if this has been a nuisance for local residents.”
