Metro services will be suspended between Pelaw and South Hylton on Thursday and Saturday due to the rail strikes.
On Thursday and Saturday, thousands of members of the Rail, Maritime and Transport union (RMT), Transport Salaried Staffs’ Association (TSSA) and Unite at Network Rail and 14 train companies will strike in the long-running row over pay, jobs and conditions.
Rail services will start later and finish much earlier than usual, with trains running between 7.30am and 6.30pm.

Many parts of Britain will have no trains, including most of Scotland and Wales. There will also be disruption during the following days, with service levels reaching 70% on Friday and 85% on Sunday.
While Tyne and Wear Metro employees are not taking part in the strike, it will have an impact on Metro services operating between Pelaw and South Hylton because this stretch of line is part of the national rail network which is owned and managed by Network Rail.
If Network Rail does not have enough people at work to operate signals then train services cannot run.
Nexus has said no Metro services will be running between Pelaw and South Hylton on Thursday, August 18 and Saturday, August 20. As it is not possible to provide replacement buses at short notice on other strike days, customers are advised to find alternative travel or put off their journeys.
Nexus has also said Friday, August, 19 and Sunday, August, 21 will also be affected with services Pelaw and South Hylton not starting until 7am. Some early morning trains elsewhere on the system will also not operate.
However, there will be ticket acceptance on the following buses. Stagecoach: X24,18/18A, 8, 10/11; Go North East: 9, 56 andGateshead Central Taxis: 558.
