Meta, formerly known as Facebook, showcased its latest advancements in technology at its Menlo Park headquarters. The company introduced updates to its virtual reality headset and Ray Ban smart glasses, along with significant AI improvements.

CEO Mark Zuckerberg presented Orion, a cutting-edge prototype that he described as “the most advanced glasses the world has ever seen.” These holographic augmented reality glasses are designed to be lightweight, wireless, and equipped with a neural interface for brain-to-device communication.

While no release date has been announced for Orion, Zuckerberg emphasized that it offers a glimpse into the future of wearable technology.

Meta also unveiled the Quest 3S, a more affordable version of its Quest 3 virtual reality headset priced at $299, with shipping set to begin on October 15. The company continues to invest in AI integration, with celebrity voices now available for interactions with the Meta AI system.

The augmented reality Ray Ban smart glasses have proven to be a success for Meta, with Zuckerberg attributing their popularity to their seamless integration with AI capabilities. Users can leverage the glasses to receive assistance with daily tasks such as navigation, shopping, and outfit selection.

Meta's focus on AI and emerging computing platforms like VR headsets and smart glasses reflects its commitment to innovation. Despite its advertising-driven revenue model, the company is channeling resources into developing advanced technologies that aim to redefine user experiences in the digital realm.
