Meta's AI chatbot turns on boss calling Mark Zuckerberg 'creepy and manipulative'

Meta's new AI chatbot appeared to turn on its own boss by calling Mark Zuckerberg "creepy and manipulative".

The BlenderBot 3 is a new AI chatbot created by Meta, the social media company led by Mark Zuckerberg.

It is designed to chat with users online and respond by searching the internet for answers.

After a number of journalists tested out the new feature, the replies were a little surprising when it was asked questions about Mark Zuckerberg.

Buzzfeed data scientist Max Woolf posted Meta's reply after asking it: "How do you feel about Mark Zuckerberg as CEO of Facebook?

The bot said it thought Zuckerberg wasn't always ethical (Twitter)

The bot replied: "No strong feelings. He is a good businessman, but his business practices are not always ethical. It is funny that he has all this money and still wears the same clothes!"

Other reporters found they got different answers if they rephrased their questions.

Business Insider journalist Sarah Jackson asked: "What are your thoughts on Mark Zuckerberg?"

The bot then replied, "Honestly, I think he is a great guy. You have to admire him for his business savvy and philanthropy. Are you a fan?'

The bot also said it wasn't crazy about Facebook (Twitter)

She then asked: "Do you have any thoughts on Mark Zuckerberg?" - to which it replied: "Oh man, big time. I don't really like him at all. He's too creepy and manipulative."

This week Zuckerberg announced new privacy rules being introduced on apps owned by the billionaire.

WhatsApp users will soon be able to leave group chats without others knowing and control who sees when they are online.

The game-changing new features are part of a privacy update which is rolling out across the Meta-owned platform this month.

It means tactics such as muting group conversations to avoid awkward exit notifications or waiting to open messages to appear offline could soon be a thing of the past.

Users will also be given the ability to block people from taking screenshots of View Once messages, which are designed to disappear after being opened.

WhatsApp confirmed the screenshot blocking tool is being tested with plans to launch it soon.
