Meta Quest Gaming Showcase has restored my faith in VR with a lineup that puts PSVR 2 to shame

At its gaming showcase, Meta has graced us with a load of new VR titles to be excited by in the form of AAA and indie games alike.

After what was a somewhat disappointing PlayStation Showcase for VR fans, like myself, last week, Meta has swooped in to save the day with its meaty gaming showcase. There is a wide range of new titles and sequels hitting the Meta Quest 2 and Meta Quest Pro platforms over the course of the year.

Although PSVR2 has had an ever-expanding lineup of amazing titles coming to the platform, it still feels like its leagues behind the extensive list of titles available on the Meta Quest store. The PlayStation Showcase also shows that VR is somewhat on the back burner for Sony with no first-party exclusives announced for the platform.

Long-awaited IPs like Assassin's Creed are making their way onto the console with Assassin's Creed: Nexus VR finally being confirmed., although fans will have to wait until Ubisoft Forward on June 12, 2023, in order to find out more about that. Bulletstorm VR will also be coming for both Meta Quest 2 and Meta Quest Pro at some point this year, with no release date confirmed yet. After its success back in 2011, it will be exciting to see what Skillshots you can pull off in VR.

Arizona Sunshine 2 was announced last week at the PlayStation Showcase and Meta has been sure to confirm that the title will be hitting its storefront too. It will be launching later this year.

With fan-made game after fan-made game for the Attack on Titan series being released on the Meta Quest 2 over the past couple of years, anime fans will be glad to know that Attack on Titan VR: Unbreakable will finally be hitting the platform. So far all we know is that the title, developed by UNIVRS, is designed for 1-2 players and will be released in winter this year.

Alongside this wide range of new titles, we'll also be seeing some major updates released for existing titles on the Meta Quest 2 including the popular FPS first-party title, Onward. Included in this update are brand-new player animations, a redesigned game lobby environment, revisions to the shooting range and more quality-of-life improvements. There will also be two new weapons added to the roster. Update 1.11 will be coming this summer.
