Met Police overpower and arrest crazed knifeman who tried to murder two women

Tito Eleto will serve a minimum of 12 years - (Met Police)

A man has been jailed for life - to serve a minimum of 12 years - following a crazed knife attack and the attempted murder of two women in Wandsworth.

In December 2023, 30-year-old Tito Eleto forced his way into the victim’s flat before stabbing her and her mother multiple times.

Covered in blood, the frenzied Eleto was apprehended at the scene by Met Police officers before later admitting to attempted murder, grievous bodily harm with intent and possession of a knife.

The attacker was sentenced this week at Kingston Crown Court after pleading guilty, and he will now face life imprisonment for a minimum of 12 years.

Speaking about the “horrific” nature of the case, investigating officer Detective Constable Lucas Pollard added that a six-month-old baby was in the house when the attack happened, and the victims were left fearing for their lives.

“This was a horrific attack on two woman which began on a doorstep and escalated into a fight for their lives,” Mr Pollard said.

“The women absolutely thought they were going to die - it must have been terrifying for them, not least as a six-month-old baby was also inside the property,” he added.

According to the Met Police report, Eleto burst into the property in December 2023 and started stabbing the victim in her 30s before turning the knife onto the victim’s mother.

Both women barricaded themselves in a bedroom with the six-month-old child, but Eleto was able to fight his way in.

The attacker then told the women: “everyone in the room is going to die.”

The victims reportedly begged for their lives before Eleto started to leave the property.

Neighbours who heard screams coming from the house were able to alert the authorities, who met with Eleto as he was trying to leave the flat complex.

Mr Pollard explained that attending officers tasered Eleto before eventually overpowering him. He was treated for self-inflicted wounds at hospital following his arrest.

Following the verdict, the Detective Constable thanked neighbours for stepping in and spoke of the long-lasting impacts such domestic attacks can leave.

He added: “I thank the neighbours who heard the women’s screams for help and called police. Those officers then confronted Eleto as he tried to flee and, despite Eleto being still armed with a knife, managed to overpower and arrest him. Other officers who helped the victims described the scene inside the property as “carnage”.

“This type of domestic attack has a long-lasting impact on victims and we will always do our absolute best to investigate and bring offenders to justice,” Mr Pollard concluded.
