Detectives have released footage of a man they want to trace following an allegation of attempted rape in Hackney.
The victim, in her 20s, was walking along Kingsland Road when a man dragged her into a driveway and sexually assaulted her.
During the terrifying attack at 1am on July 15 he held his hand over her mouth to try to stop her screaming for help.
However a delivery rider spotted her and peered down the driveway, giving the victim an opportunity to escape.
The suspect then calmly walked away.
Police said he initially tried to corner the woman before she ran away and he sprinted after her and launched his attack.
Investigators have released footage of a man they want to trace.
Detective Sergeant Rajkumar Anton Arulnayagam, from the Central East area’s CID, said: “This was an absolutely terrifying ordeal for the victim and we are committed to identifying this predatory man, who is a clear danger to women, as a matter of urgency.
“Women should feel safe to walk alone, and we are dedicated to protecting women and girls and eradicating violence against them caused largely at the hands of predatory men.
“At the time of the incident, the area was well-lit and busy – with many people making their way home following the Euros final. I’m keen to speak to anyone who may have seen the suspect, or has dash-cam footage.
“I’d also appeal to the delivery driver who heard the victim’s screams and allowed her to escape to come forward and speak to us. You are being treated as a key witness, we know you assisted the victim and your information could be vital in bringing the perpetrator to justice.
“Finally, if you recognise the man in the footage then please contact us without delay. Alternatively, you can contact Crimestoppers anonymously.”
