- More than 500 people were arrested during a mass protest in Trafalgar Square, central London, on Saturday.
- The Metropolitan Police confirmed all 523 detentions were for showing support for the proscribed organisation, Palestine Action.
- Those arrested ranged in age from 18 to 87, and included Robert Del Naja, a musician from Massive Attack.
- Protesters, many of whom were elderly, displayed signs against the ban and accused police of rough handling during the arrests.
- In March, the force announced it would resume arresting suspected Palestine Action supporters, despite a High Court ruling that the government's ban was unlawful, as an appeal is ongoing.
