The Met Office has issued weather warnings for wind, snow and ice as another cold blast hit the UK. A yellow warning for strong winds across central and southern parts of England was in place on Monday as gusts of up to 55mph were forecast to be felt across many areas and up to 65 mph across coastal areas and hills.
The warning covers the East and West Midlands, the South West and the East, along with London and the South East, plus Monmouthshire in Wales. It could mean possible travel disruption, particularly for high-sided vehicles.
Delays to road, rail, air and ferry transport are likely along with possible damage to trees. Yellow warnings for snow and ice across are also in place for across Scotland. Residents will have to deal with rain, sleet and snow followed by ice which is likely to have some impact on travel, according to the forecasters.
