Heavy rain is expected to fall in Leeds this afternoon as the city endures a wet end to the week.
"Persistent, occasionally heavy rain" is forecast for Yorkshire on Friday, according to the Met Office. In its Yorkshire & Humber outlook for September 29, the forecaster said: "Cloud quickly thickening after dawn with persistent, occasionally heavy, rain and strong winds spreading east. Gales over high ground. Rain clearing early evening, then dry with little cloud. Maximum temperature 14°C."
Looking further ahead, it looks set to be a sunnier weekend but scattered showers could return throughout Saturday (October 1).

In Leeds, it will be a dry start to Friday before the rain arrives at 1pm. Showers are expected to become heavier as the afternoon progresses and rain will continue to fall until at least 6pm, according to the Met Office.
Scattered showers could fall after 7pm but it will be a mostly dry night. The top temperature in Leeds will be 14°C. The sun will rise at 7.05am and set at 6.46pm.
