Met Office snow and wind warning issued for Falkirk with travel disruption likely

A snow warning has been issued for parts of Falkirk as temperatures take a chilly plunge.

The Yellow 'be aware' alert - which comes into force from 4pm today Wednesday February 9, and lasts until 11am tomorrow Thursday February 10 - covers places like Denny, Bonnybridge, Larbert and a section of the M876.

Forecasters say that as much as 10cm could fall in some spots, but anything at low levels is likely to be slushy.

Ice is also possible on some untreated roads, pavements and cycle paths.

A Met Office spokesperson said: "Showers will fall as snow to quite low levels on Wednesday evening and night.

"Accumulations of 2-5 cm are possible above 200 metres elevation, with perhaps around 10 cm on some of the highest routes above 400 metres.

"At lower levels some slight slushy falls are possible, as well as a risk of icy surfaces, before the snow becomes more confined to high ground during Thursday morning."

Batten down the hatches

A separate Yellow 'be aware' warning has also been issued for the whole of Falkirk district.

That comes into force from 3am tomorrow Thursday February 10, and lasts until midday.

Gusts of up to 60mph are possible in a few places.
