Brits battling against the freezing cold and snow will get some respite after a weekend of yet more wintry weather and travel problems.
Forecasters are warning that most of the UK will see another blanket of snow over the weekend, with a yellow warning issued for snow and ice covering the majority of Scotland, Wales, the north of England and the Midlands from 3am to 9pm on Sunday. But the Met Office says this should be followed by a band of rain and milder air that will bring to an end the cold snap.
The Met Office has issued an Amber weather warning in Scotland says that the UK will be swept by snow on Saturday night with the potential for up to 20 cm of snow expected to fall in hilly areas. It says that snow and ice will also cover most of the south of England from 3am until 11am on Sunday.
