Met Office predicts Bristol weather to remain 'unsettled' after storms batter the city

The weather in Bristol is expected to remain unsettled for the next few days, after multiples storms battered the city.

Three named storms - Dudley, Eunice and Franklin - swept across the country in the last week, ripping up trees, creating powercuts and causing travel chaos. Areas of Bristol city centre had to be cordoned off while the storms raged, with Storm Eunice labelled a 'red' danger to life in parts of the UK as four people sadly died.

And the Met Office is predicting that miserable weather will continue to hit the South West over the next few days. Blustery showers are expected to fall this week, while frosty temperatures are also being anticipated.

Meanwhile, weather charts by WXcharts show that Bristol could see up to 2cm of snow falling per hour later this week. But there's a glimmer of hope for the weekend, when it is thought that conditions will be "drier and brighter".

Take a look at the Met Office's full five-day forecast for the South West below.

Met Office's five-day forecast in full

Today

A bright start in places this morning, but a band of wet and windy weather will sweep through later in the morning. Brighter, colder but showery conditions will follow during the afternoon. Maximum temperature 12 °C.

Tonight

Any showers gradually fading away this evening, although one or two may continue near western coasts. Under clearing skies a patchy frost may develop with perhaps the odd icy patch. Minimum temperature 2 °C.

Wednesday

A bright but cold start on Wednesday, however cloud will tend to build during the day, with some patchy rain in places. Winds will also begin to strengthen again later. Maximum temperature 12 °C.

Outlook for Thursday to Saturday

Feeling colder on Thursday with a mix of sunshine and blustery showers, possibly turning wintry over the hills. Drier and brighter on Friday and Saturday and feeling milder again.
