A thunderstorm warning has been issued for parts of Wales with heavy showers, hail and lightning forecast. The Met Office extended the warning to cover parts of north east Wales.
The warning is in place up to 7pm on Thursday (May 11), and says there could be between 20 and 50mm in a short period of time.
It states: "Heavy showers will develop quite widely later this morning and afternoon, hail and lightning accompanying showers in some places. Some of these showers will be slow-moving and 10 to 20 mm of rain is likely to fall in less than an hour in some places whilst a few spots could see as much as 20 to 50 mm of rain in 2 or 3 hours."
The areas in Wales covered by the warning are:
- Conwy
- Denbighshire
- Flintshire
- Powys
- Wrexham.
The Met Office forecast for Wales on Thursday evening says that daytime showers will easing to leave clear spells overnight with an average temperature of 8°C.
The outlook for the weekend in Wales shows Saturday to be the best day of the weekend with highs of 18°C.
The forecast says: "Low cloud on Friday, mist and fog clearing to leave another day of sunshine and showers, though these lighter and more scattered than previous days. A little breezy, but feeling warm. Maximum temperature 18°C.
"Largely dry on Saturday with occasional sunny spells. Cloud increasing on Sunday with rain perhaps arriving from the west later, before turning showery on Monday. Feeling warm in any sunshine."
