THE Met Office has issued a new yellow weather warning for rain which will be spread out over three days.
The warning has been issued for much of the north west of Scotland, including the likes of Fort William and Ullapool.
It will come into place at 6pm on Sunday, December 15 and last until midday on Tuesday, December 17.
The forecaster has said that “persistent rain will lead to difficult travel conditions and possible flooding in a few places”.
In terms of what to expect, the Met Office said:
- Flooding of a few homes and businesses is possible
- Some interruption to power supplies and other services is possible
- Spray and flooding on roads probably making journey times longer
- Bus and train services probably affected with journey times taking longer
It added that 70-100mm of rain is likely to fall during the warning but that 150mm is possible for some exposed hills and mountains.
The “rapid melting of lying snow will also contribute to any potential impacts,” the Met Office said.
