Met Office issues snow warning for Falkirk with 'blizzard conditions' possible

A warning for snow has been issued or for the Falkirk area with motorists being told to prepare for potential travel disruption.

The Yellow 'be aware' alert is valid from 5pm today, Saturday February 5, until 3pm tomorrow, Sunday February 6.

Forecasters say that strong westerly winds will cause blizzard-like conditions at times.

As much 15cm of the white stuff could fall, especially over higher ground.

A Met Office spokesperson said: "Frequent and occasionally heavy snow showers are expected on Saturday night and Sunday.

"And combined with strong westerly winds will lead to blizzard conditions and drifting snow on higher routes across Highland.

"Accumulations of 2 to 5cm are possible in places, with 10 to 15cm accumulating on routes above 300 metres.

"Icy patches will be an additional hazard, more especially across western coastal areas."
