We're now in spring and temperatures this week are set to be more in line with the time of the year - highs of up to 15C are forecast. However, don't get too used to it because the long-range forecast threatens heavy rain and strong winds, according to weather experts.
With April just around the corner, many will be hoping the cold blasts and unsettled weather are behind us for a while - and this week does look promising. While rain is a feature of the Nottingham forecast for most days this week, temperatures are beginning to edge upward. Today's high of 8C will gradually increase - and by Thursday (March 30), the mercury should hit a high of 15C before edging down towards the weekend.
However, weather experts at the Met Office are predicting heavy rain and strong winds are on the horizon. In its long-range weather forecast, which runs from March 31 until April 9, while Nottingham is forecast to be cloudy changing to light showers by lunchtime on Friday, some parts of the UK will see heavy rain and strong winds thanks to a weather front moving in from the west or southwest through the day. The experts say there is "some uncertainty in the details but the heaviest rain and strongest winds most likely affecting parts of the south and west".

According to the forecasters this will then create unsettled weather for the coming days. They said: "Thereafter, a predominantly unsettled pattern continues, with showers or longer spells of rain for many, although these [will be] interspersed with brief drier or brighter spells."
The forecast continues: "By the second week of April, perhaps the greater chance of drier conditions will be across the north, albeit with some overnight frost. Further south, a higher likelihood of further wet weather at times. Overall, temperatures probably averaging out close to normal.'"
