Met Office issues health alert warnings as England set to be hotter than Greece

  • Large parts of England are bracing for extreme temperatures this week, with some areas forecast to be hotter than popular Greek holiday destinations.
  • The Met Office predicts temperatures could reach 35C in the South East on Monday, with central and southern England experiencing highs in the upper 20s to low 30s.
  • Amber heat-health alerts have been issued by the UK Health Security Agency for the East Midlands, East of England, South East, and London from Monday until Wednesday morning, warning of potential strain on the NHS.
  • Yellow heat-health alerts are also in place for the North West, Yorkshire and The Humber, West Midlands, and South West during the same period.
  • Health officials advise the public, particularly vulnerable individuals such as older adults and those with dementia, to take precautions like staying hydrated and avoiding the sun during the hottest parts of the day.
