Temperatures will plummet this week as the Met Office issues a yellow warning for ice in the North East.
It comes into action at 6pm on Wednesday and will stay in place until midday on Thursday, with people reminded to take extra care as slips and falls are likely.
The Met Office also warns of icy patches on untreated roads, pavements, and cycle paths - especially in the early hours of Thursday morning with temperatures dropping as low as -1C.
