More 'heavy and persistent' rain is on the way to Wales as another Met Office weather warning is issued. Natural Resources Wales has two flood warnings and 16 flood alerts in place across Wales on Monday morning.
And while Monday is set to be "showery", a band of heavier rain is forecast for much of the region on Tuesday (January 10). Further "persistent" rain is expected on Thursday and it is expected to be windy throughout the week.
A yellow weather warning for Tuesday in place between 6am and 8pm says: "Outbreaks of rain will spread across England and Wales during Tuesday. This will be heaviest and most persistent across parts of Wales, particularly over higher ground. Rainfall totals of 80-100 mm could accumulate over high ground."

The Met Office forecast for Wales this week says that Monday will see "strong winds and blustery showers, perhaps with hail and thunder during the morning". It added: "In the afternoon the showers will become lighter and more isolated with prolonged sunny spells. Staying windy throughout. Maximum temperature 9 °C.
"Showers and strong winds easing during the evening and feeling colder, with some clear spells. Then persistent rain and strong winds moves in from the west during the early hours. Minimum temperature 0 °C."
For Tuesday, the forecast says: "Mild, wet and overcast throughout with persistent rain and drizzle. Rain heavy at times especially on upslopes. Windy throughout the day. Maximum temperature 14 °C."

The Met Office outlook for Wednesday to Friday in Wales says: "Cooler again on Wednesday with blustery showers and sunny spells. Further persistent rain on Thursday. Sunshine and showers again on Friday. Strong winds throughout with coastal gales at times."
According to the forecasting service's long range forecast it will be the end of January before we "may see more settled conditions, particularly across the south" as heavy rain falls on already saturated ground.
Natural Resources Wales' flood warnings are on the River Usk from Brecon to Glangrwyney and on the River Towy between Llandeilo and Abergwili. On Monday morning, there was a warning that the A4069 Broad Street in Llandovery is impassable in both directions because of flooding between Llangadog and Llandovery.
