The record-breaking summer of 2022 might appear to be over - with sunshine and downpours now bringing the usual August vibe to the weather.
But according to the Met Office, we're in for one last 'treat' of hot and sunny weather, right about the time of next weekend's Bank Holiday.
The long-range forecast from the Met Office covering everything from next Tuesday, August 23 to the following Thursday, September 1, is using words like 'warmer air', and 'fine, dry weather', and 'very warm'.

And while we won't know whether that means temperatures up high enough to be officially classified as a heatwave - and in any case, there's different criteria depending on which side of the Clifton Suspension Bridge you're on - the outlook for the end of next week as the Bank Holiday weekend approaches, is certainly looking good.
The weather for this weekend and early next week is more of the same - sunshine and showers with cloudy bits in between - although there is a burst of heavy rain overnight on Sunday and into Monday morning which it would not be advisable to leave the washing out in.
However, the longer-range forecast for next week sees things drying up nicely and temperatures beginning to rise again. The forecast for the Met Office for next week and into next weekend begins with the showers, but then says: "There looks to be a change to more settled conditions with the best of any sunshine in the southeast. A northwest/southeast temperature split may also develop, whereby any cooler polar air will characterise the north, with the south experiencing warmer air from the continent.
"By the end of this period, fine, dry weather is likely to prevail for many. Light winds are likely with plenty of sunshine, and temperatures generally warm or locally very warm," they added.
Anyone fearing a repeat of the two blasts of a heatwave in July and August, where temperatures broke records and were consistently above 30 deg C can be reassured, however.
The warm Bank Holiday weekend won't be scorching - temperatures are expected to rise to the much more tolerable mid-20s C, rather than the mid-30s.
