A meteorologist from the Met Office has revealed when an April warm spell can be expected and the exact date that the cold temperatures will lift.
A drop in the mercury has seen Brits wrapping up warm again less than a week after digging out the shorts for the first time this year. However, don't expect to keep the layers on for long as "above average" temperatures can be expected later this month.
Despite parts of the country, including Bristol, seeing snowfall on Thursday, March 31, nicer temperatures and blue skies can be expected very shortly and the more usual warmer spring weather will shortly follow.

Speaking to The Mirror, Met Office meteorologist Annie Shuttleworth said the warm temperatures in March were something of a “false start” to the new season. She also added, “The temperatures we saw last week were well above the average temperature for late March across the UK.
“So it may have felt like summer for some but in fact it is still early spring when the average temperature is around 11 or 12 C in the UK.” Ms Shuttleworth then added it looks as though we will see temperatures at or above average throughout the month of April."
Spring was often a changeable month temperature-wise, Ms Shuttleworth noted, “as our seas are still cold after the winter but the sun is getting stronger and the days longer. The temperatures can vary a lot depending on the wind direction,” she said.
In the meantime expect it to stay colder. Bristol in particular is planning to see freezing cold temperatures this weekend with frosts expected across the wider region too.
