Temperatures in Bristol are set to fall below freezing this week as the Met Office weather forecast predicts lows of -4C. The Exeter-based weather forecaster had originally forecast 'light snow' for the city on Saturday (December 10), however this has now changed.
It comes as a level three cold weather warning has been issued across England - including the entire South West - as temperatures continue to drop across the country. The weather service warns there could be disruption to services and an increased health risk to vulnerable people.
This amber level weather warning - for 'severe' cold weather - has been issued from 6pm on Wednesday, December 7, and 9am on Monday, December 12 covering the whole of England. Wales and Scotland have not been included in the weather warning.

The Met Office says there is a a 90 percent risk of the threshold being reached to constitute 'severely' cold weather - this include either widespread snow and ice, or the mean temperature in the region staying at two degrees or lower for 48 hours or more. While Northern England and the East of England are expected to see heavy snowfall and ice, the South West is likely to meet the second criteria.
