Met Office forecast for Easter bank holiday suggests showers and not a heatwave

It's just two weeks to the four-day weekend.

The Easter bank holiday lands in mid-April in 2022. Good Friday is the first of four days off for many people, with Saturday and Sunday followed by a bank holiday Monday.

Early reports had speculated a "heatwave" is on its way for Easter. But the latest available forecast from the Met Office indicates that may not be the case.

A long-range forecast for the UK's Easter weekend has been published by the Met Office. Good Friday is on April 15, with Easter Sunday on the 17th and the bank holiday Monday a day later.

The long range forecast, which will be updated daily, provides a picture of what to expect around the UK on the Easter Weekend.

The forecast, covering the period between Good Friday and April 29, says to expect "unsettled" weather "with periods of rain and showers" in mid April.

It adds: "Showers may be heavy at times, some perhaps thundery with a chance of hail. Strong winds are also probable, particularly to the north and west."

The Met Office then says that the end of April is likely to be more settled, with average temperatures in the North of England.
