Met Office five day forecast for Bristol ahead of Britain bracing for arctic blast

The mercury is set to plunge across Britain this month, with some areas being hit by snowfall. Forecasters are expecting the mild weather to come to an end as soon as next week week.

An interactive Snow Risk map from Netweather shows snow in the Scottish highlands over the next five days. The wintery conditions will then spread towards northern England at the end of the month.

As reported by The Mirror, the Met Office states that the current mild conditions are expected to last for another five days before the weather turns more unsettled. The forecaster says that rain and strong winds are set to hit Britain, with temperatures dropping to around 7C.

In Bristol, temperatures are set to drop to around 7C and 8C on Friday (November 12). The outlook also suggests a high chance of rainfall on Tuesday, with showers also expected on Thursday.

Met Office meteorologist Annie Shuttleworth told The Independent: “With average temperatures for this time of November, you can get rain falling as snow on the high grounds of Scotland as well as potentially the high ground of England and Northern Ireland.”

She added that wintery conditions will begin to pick up in the UK toward the end of the month with more dry and settled weather seen more widely leading to colder temperatures. “For the end of November, it generally looks like we’ll see high pressure and lots of dry and settled weather,” Ms Shuttleworth said.

Meanwhile, The Met Office has described today's temperatures as "exceptionally mild". Meteorologist Alex Deakin said this weekend will bring "misty and murky conditions" for many of us on both Saturday and Sunday, with "incredibly mild" temperatures.

He said: "As the wind starts to ease, we are likely to see more mist and fog so it could be quite another pretty grey start to Sunday morning.

"Even where it stays grey, temperatures again will be well above average, getting into the teens and with a bit of brightness, 16C, 17C."

Met Office South West five-day forecast

Today: Areas of mist and murk and patchy fog, slowly lifting and breaking, allowing most places to see some sunshine at times through the day. Another very mild day and with lighter winds than yesterday, feeling unseasonably warm in any sunshine. Maximum temperature 18 °C.

Tonight: Clear spells at first this evening but low cloud soon developing, especially in coastal areas. Mist, fog and low cloud forming widely overnight. Staying very mild. Breezy in the west. Minimum temperature 11 °C.

Sunday: Patchy low cloud and fog at first, especially in eastern counties. Sunshine breaking through for most and staying generally fine with sunny spells during the afternoon. Another unseasonably mild day. Maximum temperature 18 °C.

Outlook for Monday to Wednesday: Rain edging east on Sunday night, breaking up into showers on Monday. Turning brighter in the west later. Changeable and windier thereafter with rain or showers. Not as exceptionally mild.
