Kim Kardashian has said she is "so honoured" to have worn Marilyn Monroe's "evocative piece of fashion history" at the Met Gala 2022.
The SKIMS founder wore the skintight gown worn by Monroe when she sang 'Happy Birthday' to then-US president John F. Kennedy in 1962.
The 41-year-old loaned the outfit from the Ripley's Believe It or Not! museum, which paid $4.8m (£3.9m) for the dress at an auction in November 2016.
The theme of the night was "In America: An Anthology of Fashion and the Gilded Glamour" and reality TV star certainly pulled out all the stops to be centre of attention at the Metropolitan Museum of Art.
The figure-hugging Jean Louis gown has more than 6,000 crystals adorned on it and Kardashian admitted to Vogue on the red carpet at the event that she lost 16 pounds in order to fit into the outfit.
Monroe was believed to be sewn into the dress prior to her performance to Mr Kennedy at a fundraiser held at Madison Square Garden on May 19, 1962. She died less than three months later at the age of 36.
She wrote on Instagram : "Met Gala — In America: An Anthology of Fashion.
"I am so honored to be wearing the iconic dress that Marilyn Monroe wore in 1962 to sing “Happy Birthday” to President John F. Kennedy.
"It is a stunning skintight gown adorned with more than 6,000 hand-sewn crystals by costumier Jean Louis.
"Thank you Ripley’s Believe It or Not! for giving me the opportunity to debut this evocative piece of fashion history for the first time since the late Marilyn Monroe wore it.
"I am forever grateful for this moment."
Kim was attending the event with beau Pete Davidson, 28, who admitted he was happy to take a back seat so his partner could lap up the limelight.
It was also the first time all the Kardashian-Jenner sisters were all in attendance, marking the first time Kourtney and Khloe had been invited to the show.
Khloe, 37, looked very similar to sister Kim as she donned a remarkable gold gown designed by Moschino.
And sister Kylie Jenner, 24, also raised eyebrows with her dubious choice of outfit. The youngest sibling worse a huge wedding dress and paired it with a baseball cap which she wore backwards.
