Met Gala 2022 fans claim Billie Eilish has won with eco-friendly corset dress

Met Gala fans hailed Billie Eilish for understanding the theme of the glitzy event as she stunned in a Gucci outfit.

The No Time To Die singer wowed fans on Monday as she turned out at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in a beautiful pastel green and caramel corset dress.

The dress - which is believed to be eco-friendly - was complete with green-laced shoulders and a black choker necklace with hanging jewels.

She stole the show last year, which she co-chaired, with her Marilyn Monroe-inspired gown designed by Oscar de la Renta as she ditched her trademark green hair for an elegant blonde bob.

This time around she has gone for a look which most definitely hit the night's theme of "In America: An Anthology of Fashion and the Gilded Glamour dress code."

And fans of the Met Gala applauded the 20-year-old's outfit, with several taking to social media claiming she had "understood the assignment".

One Twitter user added: "Billie Eilish definitely followed the theme Gilded Glamour. Back in the 1870, they used to wear VERY tight corsets and you can definitely see billie is barely breathing PLS. Also they used to wear very pale colors! She understood the assignment."

Another said: "So far Billie Eilish & Blake Lively are the only ones who have executed the theme."

Social media users believed that Eilish was inspired by John Singer Sargent's 1885 portrait of Madame Paul Poirson and the similarities between the two are definitely comparable.

A third user wrote: "OMG YAZ! If this is indeed the inspiration behind her look she's a genius! Not only did she follow the theme BUT ALSO highlighted WOMEN IN FASHION at that time period! Bravo! KEEP SLAYING."

Elsewhere on the red carpet, Kourtney Kardashian made her first appearance at the Met Gala alongside her fiancé Travis Barker.

In the past few years, only Kim Kardashian, Kris Jenner, Kylie Jenner and Kendall Jenner had been invited and made appearances at the highly-anticipated event.

However, Kourtney finally got her chance as she wore matching Thom Browne skirts with Travis in an edgy look, while Khloe Kardashian also made her Met Gala debut in a chic gold gown finished with black gloves.
